Understand the difference
Are office pods soundproof?
Acoustic office pods reduce sound transfer; they do not create complete silence. FocusPod’s published specification describes laboratory tested speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1. Use this guide to understand the result, the difference between speech privacy and sound absorption, and the effect of the surrounding office on the installed experience.
Measured speech level reduction
30.5–30.8 dBLaboratory tested specification under ISO 23351-1. A measured basis for comparing speech reduction—not a promise of complete silence.
A speech result. Not just a soundproof label.
The manufacturer specifies 30.5–30.8 dB speech level reduction for the pod range under ISO 23351-1. This is a test method for comparing speech reduction through furniture enclosures. It does not mean every noise outside or inside the pod is reduced by the same amount.
The enclosure does the work.
Layered sound-insulating and sound-absorbing materials, laminated glass at the front and rear, and the door seals work together to reduce sound transfer and manage reflections. Optional PDLC privacy glass changes visibility; it is not a separate acoustic performance upgrade.
Your room still matters.
The surrounding office, the speaker's voice, nearby listeners, installation quality and a properly closed door all influence the experience. Place and assemble the pod with care. For confidential or sensitive conversations, assess privacy in the actual workplace rather than relying on a test number alone.
Compare the same measurement.
A speech level reduction result is not interchangeable with a wall's STC rating, a sound-absorption coefficient or a phone-recorded sound-meter reading. When comparing pods, look at the model and configuration tested, the method, the result and the underlying report.
Bring the evidence into your project.
Ask FocusPod for the acoustic test information and certification documents for your chosen model and configuration. Product safety certification, chemical-emissions certification and acoustic testing answer different questions; keep each in your procurement review.
